Using Juicy Descriptions in our Story Writing
For the last couple of weeks, students in The Class have been exploring Narrative Writing.
As part of this unit, students have been learning about specific "juicy describing words," similies, and "showing not telling." Students applied this knowledge when describing a "Wild Thing" from their imagination. While composing their ideas, students had to keep their writing a secret! Once finished students were paired up and sat across from one another with a privacy shield between them. Based on JUST their partner's written description, students had to draw their partners "Wild Thing." We decided that if their description was specific and juicy enough, then their pictures would be similar.
